Don Aspegren, DC, MS

Dr. Aspegren obtained his Doctorate of Chiropractic, from National College of Chiropractic in 1985. Following graduation, he went on to perform a two year residency under the direction of James M. Cox, DC, DACBR in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, focusing on research and treatment of lower back pain After completion of his residency, Dr. Aspegren moved to Denver, Colorado where he earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Chapman University.

Dr. Aspegren is currently a nationally recognized author, speaker, and researcher in the field of chiropractic and sports medicine. Dr. Aspegren has chapter contributions in numerous texts and journals and in 2004 became the first chiropractor published in the prestigious American Journal of Sports Medicine involving research on professional golfers with hip and low back pain. Beginning in 2007he became an invited author for the British Medical Journal (BMJ) after publishing a sports relation paper on costochondritis in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.

Dr. Aspegren has served as a member of the official sports medicine team on the professional golf tour (PGA) from 2001-2007. He has taught in the post-graduate faculty divisions of chiropractic colleges on the treatment of injured athletes and rehabilitation for over 20 years. Dr. Aspegren was on e of the first chiropractors selected to participate as part of the sports medicine team at the United States Olympic Training Center. In 2008 he was a speaker on the sports medicine program held in Indianapolis during the NFL Combine event.

He is on staff at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Aspegren is also a lecturer for NCMIC, the world’s largest chiropractic mal-practice company. Dr. Aspegren has several clinical studies underway regarding injured workers treated within an integrative chiropractic program. He has served on the State of Colorado Workers Compensation Guideline Committee that revises treatment guidelines of injured workers for all professions in Colorado.

In his free-time Dr. Aspegren enjoys reading both pleasure and professional medical material. He regularly spends time outdoors including biking, snowshoeing, and mountain hiking. But his favorite activity is spending time with his three children and his lovely wife of 31 years.
